CATHARSIS/REBIRTH
7 artists together on show for Rebirth-day at the Old Turkish Baths "Hamam" in Paphos.
Organized by: Yiannis Sakellis
Date: 21/12/12
Address: Paphos, Cyprus

On the 21st of December for the first worldwide day of rebirth, 7 artists commit to put together a show at the Turkish Baths in the center of Paphos-Cyprus.
All artists propose to exhibit 7 separate artworks in different media in an abstract interpretation of the Third Paradise implying and commenting on the responsibility of social change. In addition, all artists propose to install a collective installation which will unite all art pieces and direct as an immediate reference to the symbol of the Third Paradise (linking moreover all participations around the world prepared and exhibited for this purpose; raising the idea of a personal response towards a collective and united experience).
All individual artworks will refer to personal concerns of each artist in relation to ideas in re- establishing a world which needs re- thinking, re-phrasing, re-evaluation and a re-start: Re-framing individuality in an integrated responsibility.
The idea of the Turkish baths is symbolically connected with the cathartic approach where mixed identities gather and share common motives.
The symbolism of catharsis suggests ideas of re- birth, realization and re-formation. Catharsis and purification imply of a new beginning, a re-evaluation and a remaking with oneself and as part of a whole responsibility, personal and a mutual understanding in a segmental frame.
We share common concerns and we speak the same language of visual communication and share the aspiration to communicate in a local, fluid and a worldly joint context for a mutual experience.
