Margarita Vazquez Ponte:
“A Muggu is a decorative drawing of welcome found at the entrance to Hindu households, drawn late at night or early in the morning with chalk or rice flour usually by the women of the home. They can be found in front of schools, shops, from the most humble of abodes to the most privileged homes. Each day an act of art is made and a different pattern must be drawn. I wanted a Muggu made specially to welcome in Rebirth-day so I asked Mounika Gandikota, a student at Daddy’s Home English Medium School who has participated in my art labs there for Fondazione Zegna for three years now, and who along with her mother and sister makes these beautiful drawings nightly, to make these 2 Muggus for this occasion.”
